Download MP3 (right click to save) I have never heard so many stories about cars being washed away in floods as I have recently. Maybe it’s because our part of the country has had like one huge storm after another, but there have also been some stories that really inspire me. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and one happened right here in the creek in our town a few days ago. This teenage mom with the father of the baby and a ten month old baby were stranded in a car on a flooded bridge. Now, Dad got out and he was on the hood and he called 911 and a local truck driver, who was also a volunteer firefighter, raced over and he was the only one there at that point. He saw the car washed off the bridge into this raging creek and the mother in the car holding the baby’s head above the rising water in the car. Well, he plunged in, he got the baby out, he handed the baby to a man who was then on the bank, he got the mom out. Now, he wasn’t trained in water rescues, but those people who were weren’t there. He knew the rescue was up to him because he was where the people in danger were. You know, so are you and I? We’ve all been positioned to rescue some people we know—spiritually that is. In the words of the Bible, “Rescue those being led away to death” (Proverbs 24:11 ). The Bible’s talking about people who haven’t met the One Person who can forgive their sin and get them to heaven, the man Jesus who died for their sin. You are where you are to help them be in heaven with you some day, and that is living the ultimate life that matters. I want to invite you to our website to learn how to make a greater difference. It’s alifethatmatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Proverbs 24:11 |
