Download MP3 (right click to save) During my first ski lesson, I fell down on the beginners' slope and I hurt the part of me that God designed for that purpose. Tragically, when actress Natasha Richardson fell on the bunny slope, she sustained a head injury that only hours later ended her life. It was an unlikely death; it was an untimely death. You know, five years ago, she said: "Every morning I wake up and think how lucky I am, probably because of fear, because it can all be gone in a moment." Well, it can for any of us.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and the morning I heard about Natasha Richardson's death, I was near a lake that was covered with a beautiful mist. It was gone only minutes later. Well, the morning news and the morning mist actually made me think about God's perspective on our lives. The Bible says, "You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (James 4:14 ). We get reminders all the time. We really are one heartbeat away from eternity. We shouldn't run from what may be the most important question of all, "Are you ready for eternity, whenever it comes, however it comes?" When our appointment with God comes, we'll never get into His heaven if our sins are still unforgiven. Only one Person can erase them--the Son of God who died for those sins. The Bible said, "He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" (1 John 4:10 ). You're ready for eternity when you have made the Savior your Savior. As the Bible says: "Prepare to meet your God" (Amos 4:12 ). If you've never nailed down your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ, would you visit our website today? I think you'll find some help there. It's ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: James 4:14 ; 1 John 4:10 ; Amos 4:12 |
