Download MP3 (right click to save) The first time I landed at LaGuardia Airport in New York, I was told I had just landed on the garbage of New York. A guy explained that the airport, which sits right on a bay, was built on landfill from the city’s trash, which is pretty amazing. Of course, that is what recycling is all about—turning trash into something useful. By the way, nobody does that like God does.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and God can literally take the garbage you’ve been through and even the garbage you’ve done and turn it into something that gives life to other people. For example, God says that He “comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ). The people best qualified to help hurting people are those who’ve experienced what hurting is—wounded healers. And who can testify to the difference that a personal relationship with the “Father of compassion” makes when you’re hurting. Paul talked about how his years as “a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man” were now a tool that God could use to “display His unlimited patience as an example for all those who would believe” (1 Timothy 1:13 , 16). In other words, if Jesus could save a guy like me, He can save anyone. The pain He’s brought you through, the sin He’s forgiven—in Jesus’ hands, they become your “crudentials.” People will listen to you because of the crud you’ve been through, and you can tell them about the Savior who made all the difference. And just maybe they’ll be in heaven with you someday! We want to help you take the people you care about to heaven with you. Our website is there for that purpose. Would you visit us there? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ; 1 Timothy 1:13 , 16 |
