Download MP3 (right click to save) Nobody knows who Clark Kent really is, but Clark Kent does. Oh, he’s just a mild-mannered reporter to the people around him. But he’s got a super identity, and that’s who he really is. Sort of like me and maybe you.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and when I gave myself to Jesus, I got a whole new identity, and so did you. Other people look at me and identify me in a variety of ways, just like old Clark Kent. But I know the super-identity God gave me when I was born into His family, and that’s who I really am. Here’s who those who know Jesus really are: “’I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18 ). So what’s your true identity? You are a son or a daughter of the King. Unfortunately, we too often trade in our identity for a lie-dentity—something we used to think we were before we met Jesus. At our Native American youth conference, I’ve had the young people put on four name tags, with their name written on it. ”I’m Ron the victim” defined by my pain. “I’m Ron the sinner” defined by my failures. “I’m Ron the junk” defined by how others have made me feel about myself. But ultimately, I asked them to tear up those three lie-dentities to symbolize that they’re not going to fall for them again, because “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ). So tear up your lie-dentities and start living like who you really are. You are a son; you are a daughter of the King of all kings! You can make a difference you may have never dreamed in the lives of the people around you. Our website’s all about that…ALifeThatMatters.org.
