Man, I still remember the agony on my twelve-year-old son’s face when he came to me in a football practice holding his very badly broken arm. And I will never forget the excruciating pain as the doctor set that multiple break. Of course, he could have avoided that pain; just leave it broken…which would have left it dysfunctional for the rest of his life.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and there’s something here for any of us who has something in our life or in our soul that’s broken. It could be the pain of your past, it could be something that’s breaking or broken right now. Often we try to cover up that pain or escape it, or bury it as deep as we can because it’s too painful to get it out in the open. So it remains a dysfunctional part of us, often keeping us from a life that matters until we realize that it hurts more not to deal with it than it ever could to deal with it.

You’ve got to face it to fix it. Now, that’s hard, but when you do, then you are free for the rest of your life. The healing can begin. You’re following the prescription of Dr. Jesus, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” (John 8:32 ). Not scare you to death. “The truth shall set you free.” He asks you the same question He asked a long-paralyzed man, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6 ) See, there’s no monster in your closet you need fear if Jesus goes with you to meet it.
