They used to joke about her. Now they’re worried about her. Here’s what her mother said about her daughter’s struggles, “This all just exploded in my face, and big dreams became big headaches.” I’m Ron Hutchcraft and most of us don’t have a child who’s a big star, but we have big dreams. But often raising kids today, well, it seems more like big headaches. How does that happen? Well, there’s a cause of parental pain that I call personal agendas. See, we’ve got our own thing we want our kids to become, and our job is to nurture the child God created; not try to make them into the child we wanted. The way the Bible puts that is this in Proverbs 22:6 , “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Now, the Hebrew word there means “the way they were bent”; raise them the way they were bent. When we use our kids to meet our needs or to live our life through them, we hijack them from God’s plan. For your son or daughter to have a life that matters, you’ve got to raise them God’s way. Here’s the greatest dream you could have for your children. God promises is Isaiah 54:13 , “All your children will be taught of the Lord and great will be the peace of your children.” We’d love to help you with this kind of real life issue if you’d just visit us at alifethatmatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
