Download MP3 (right click to save) Our kids used to love to go to the circus. Now they take their kids to the circus. One of the much-hyped highlights of the circus is those death-defying acrobats on the trapezes above the center ring. It's breathtaking to watch them make that daring leap into space and onto the next trapeze. I imagine it's fine as long as you're hanging onto that first trapeze, and when you've grabbed that next trapeze. What's scary? That would be the time between trapezes.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I am no acrobat, but I know that feeling - the uncertainty and the anxiety of being between two of life's trapezes. Maybe you're there right now. One trapeze is behind you. Either you let it go or it let you go. That security is history. Ahead of you is God's next trapeze, and it will bring you closer to where you ultimately want to end up. But in between - nothing to hang onto. So what do you do when you're between trapezes? Here's one of those great anchor promises of God's Word. These are God's instructions for uncertain times, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass" (Psalm 37:5 , KJV). You see, first, you release your future totally into God's hands, like you commit your car to a mechanic, your money to a bank, your body to a surgeon. You commit all your unknowns to Him. Ultimately it says, "He will bring it to pass." That's your destination trapeze. In between? "Trust in Him." Don't panic and don't take it back. Trust that your safety net between trapezes is the mighty God Himself, and He's never dropped anybody! This radio program references: Psalm 37:5 KJV |
