Download MP3 (right click to save) Last Christmas, Baby Jesus was missing. Well, actually, the Baby Jesus figurine from a major park Nativity scene. They found Him, but not in good shape. Someone had used black marker to scrawl racial epithets and satanic symbols and other obscene references on the body, the eyes were blacked out, pieces were broken off—Baby Jesus had been treated horribly.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft and as disturbing as this incident is, it pales in comparison to how Jesus was really treated when He came. Listen how the Bible describes what the only Son of God went through: “His face was so disfigured He seemed hardly human, and from His appearance, one would scarcely know He was a man. He was despised, and we did not care. He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was led like a sheep to the slaughter” (Isaiah 52:14 ; 53:3, 5, 7). He’s the Son of God, there’s no way they could do that to Him unless He let them—and He did. And here’s why: “We have left God’s path to follow our own. Yet, the Lord laid on Jesus the sins of us all” (Isaiah 53:6 ). Jesus willingly took all the punishment for every wrong thing you and I have ever done so we would never have to be punished. This Christmas season, He’s reaching out to you—into your heart—offering to give you what He died for. Your eternity depends on how you’ll treat Jesus, whether you say yes or no to what He died for. It’s all God’s wanting to want to know. “What did you do with My Son?” Today, this could be a turning point day for you and Jesus. And if you’d like to know more about beginning a relationship with Him, would you go to our website, ALifeThatMatters.org?
