Download MP3 (right click to save) My friend Rick had a day he could go hunting. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find his glasses. So he grabbed what he could find—his wife’s glasses. At one point, he positioned himself in a tree, put those glasses on so he could use the sight on his rifle, and finally, he decided it was time to get out of that tree. He looked down, and said, “Okay, it isn’t far, I’ll step down.” Well, in his words, “I just kept falling and falling and falling.” He had the wrong glasses on, so the ground looked a lot closer than it really was. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and when you’re not wearing the right glasses, you can really get a distorted perspective and make decisions that you’re going to regret, and you’re going to get hurt like you hadn’t expected. In many ways, a lot of life’s decisions depend on which pair of glasses you pick up. There are two life-lenses described in this cornerstone scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Okay, that is one set of glasses through which to look at your choices.) and lean not on your own understanding (That’s another set of glasses you can look through.); in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ). When you trust your own understanding, you’re looking through glasses that see only part of the picture. Therefore, big mistakes and unnecessary regrets. When you trust in the Lord wholeheartedly, judging the situation based on the truth of God’s Word, you make choices that will stand the test of time and be right all around. So make sure you’re looking at your decision through the right glasses. If you’re encouraged by these daily visits, then I think you’ll really be encouraged by a visit to our website.
