Download MP3 (right click to save) I was attending a national meeting in the beautiful Garden of the Gods in Colorado. And since I was a rookie in the group, they offered to take me on what they called the initiation hike, to a majestic, cascading waterfall. Well, our hike took us next to a roaring Rocky Mountain stream and to a rock wall that looked like the end of the hike and no waterfall. I asked about it, and they told me it was on the other side of the stream, but there was no bridge—only a round pipeline that spanned the stream. They told me there was only one way to see the waterfall: “You cross the pipeline.” I said, “You cross the pipeline!” I didn’t want to end up swimming with the trout! So, standing at the edge of that roaring stream, I was at a crossroads. I had gone as far as I could go safely. That might be where you are in your life right now. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and in many ways, the Christmas story is the story of people who loved and trusted God enough to leave their comfort zone to obey Him. God announced that Mary would become mysteriously pregnant as a virgin, to bear His Son, possibly costing her the man she loved and the reputation she cherished. Her response: “I am the Lord’s servant” (Luke 1:38 ). Her man, Joseph, risks his reputation to become part of God’s plan. The wise men leave home for an uncertain destination, knowing only that heaven is leading them there. If God’s calling you to do something that means crossing the pipeline, don’t miss what He’s got for you. By the way, I did cross the pipeline and it was magnificent…the best things on the other side of where it’s safe. This radio program references: Luke 1:38 |
