When Kaitlin was just a week old, her mother left her in a basket where she knew she would be found quickly. That precious little girl spent her first year in a nursery with about 20 other babies, bundled in blankets year-round because of the lack of heat and eating the limited food that the orphanage had available. Then something happened that changed her life forever. A couple came from 10,000 miles away, at great expense, and adopted her into their family. She just turned five, and believe me, she’s not an orphan anymore. She belongs! I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you know, someone came from very far away to do that for me, and at very great expense. His name is Jesus. His promise in the Bible says, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18 ). I had two loving parents, but spiritually, I was still an orphan. We all are. We were created by God to be His child, safe in His love. But we’ve lived with our back to God, running our own lives, which has left us, in the Bible’s words, “cut off from God” (Isaiah 59:2 ). So we’re hungry for something to fill the emptiness in our soul, and everything we try just leaves us hungry. We’re alone, we/re isolated, we’re missing what we were made for, but that’s why Jesus came a long way to pay the price on a cross to bring you home. The day you put your trust in Jesus is the day you will belong to God. We’re committed to helping you begin this love relationship with Jesus. Our website is all about it, and I hope you’ll go there. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. Bible References: John 14:18 ; Isaiah 59:2 |
