I was speaking for a businessman’s outreach in Rockefeller Center not long ago, and a brother in Christ came up to me with a hugely encouraging report. He said, “Our small group’s been growing through your thirteen-week DVD series, and it’s really having an impact! This past week, you talked about the three-open prayer. So I’ve been praying it every day this week, and the results have been amazing!”

I’m Ron Hutchcraft and before I tell you about this businessman’s amazing week, I should explain this three-open prayer he talked about. It’s modeled after this prayer from the great ambassador for Christ, Paul: “Pray for us that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should” (Colossians 4:3-4 ).

The three-open prayer goes like this, “Lord, open a door.” Now, that’s a natural opportunity to bring up your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Then, “Lord, open their heart. As You’re getting me ready to talk to them about You, Jesus, please be getting them ready to hear it.” And thirdly, “Lord, open my mouth. Give me the words, the approach, the courage to go through the open door.”

My friend in New York said that in the week he started praying that every day he’d had the opportunity to give out five Bibles to coworkers. He had had three meaningful, spiritual conversations about the Lord, and it was expectant every time that anyone came into his office. Listen, give it a shot where you are: “Lord, open the door. Lord, open their heart. Lord, open my mouth!”
