Download MP3 (right click to save) My Dad’s in heaven, but I know there are moments he must be looking down and laughing at his city boy son doing country boy things. Like helping a friend carry some lambs. I never did that before. As soon as I got each lamb in my arms, he just went like totally limp, like he had just surrendered to his fate. Made me think of another Lamb who’s come to mean the world to me. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and when Jesus launched His public ministry, John the Baptist said: “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29 ). As we approach Good Friday and Easter, we’re focusing on God’s Lamb. And carrying that limp lamb in my arms suddenly melted me inside, because I had a new realization of what Jesus did for me–and for you. The Bible says, “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter…He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him” (Isaiah 53:5 , 7). Here was the exalted Son of God, heaven’s Prince, going limp to be sacrificed for our sin, because there was no other way to remove the death penalty for our sin. They didn’t take His life, He gave it. He loves you so much He surrendered Himself to be slaughtered for you. That’s why all God will want to know when you stand before Him is, “What did you do with My Son after all He did for you?” It may be that you’re not sure you belong to Jesus and you’d like to make sure. I want to encourage you to go to our website to meet the One who loves you the most…ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: John 1:29 ; Isaiah 53:5 ; Isaiah 53: 7 |
