Download MP3 (right click to save) I didn’t realize how spoiled I am. I walk into a dark room, I flip a switch, light! Until we had several days without electricity because of a storm, and suddenly, I’m walking through a pitch dark house. But my resourceful wife figured out a good way to keep me from either breaking furniture or my ankle. She put a flashlight on a lanyard so it was hanging around my neck, ready to provide some much needed light wherever I went in the house. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and it was really good to carry a light that could go in all the dark places with me. Of course, not all the dark places in our life are because we don’t have electricity. We walk through dark stretches because of what’s happening in our family, in our job, with our health; important decisions, unexpected bad news, situations that seem like hopeless. Well, there’s good news! There’s a light you can carry with you that sheds light on all the dark places. In the Bible, the psalmist said, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105 ). See, you navigate the dark places by looking at them through what Scripture says. What we can see is only a small part of the picture. Pouring today’s events through the filter of God’s Word will help you see what’s really going on. But it’s hard to carry a Bible in your hand everywhere you go. So how can you carry the light everywhere? Well the Psalmist said, “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11 ). You need to commit God’s Word to memory. Make it part of you so you have His light with you wherever you go, especially when it’s dark. Hey, there’s some light and some encouragement for you at our website. And I hope you’ll check it out today—AlifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Psalm 119:11 , Psalm 119:105 |
