Download MP3 (right click to save) All those NFL players this season are dreaming about the Lombardi Trophy. That’s what they get if they win the Super Bowl. Of course, it’s named after Vince Lombardi, the legendary Green Bay Packers coach. You know, as he lay dying of cancer in a New York hospital, one of his former players, Willie Davis, came all the way across the country to see him just for a few minutes, and when he came out of the hospital and met the reporters they said, “Willie, why did you come all this way just to see the coach for a few minutes?” And he pointed up to the coach’s window and he said, “Because that man made me feel important.” I’m Ron Hutchcraft and I’ll tell you, more than any trophy or championship, that is a lasting legacy of a life that matters. I wonder how many people would say that about me; about you: “He or she made me feel important.” Making people feel important isn’t just some pop psychology. It’s seeing a person as God sees them and then helping them see themselves as God sees them. The Bible calls them His workmanship, His treasured possession, His blood-bought child. Oh yeah, they’re important. God’s Word commands us to, “honor one another above ourselves” (Romans 12:10 ). See, you make a person feel important when you listen to them, when you care about what they care about, when you pray with them, when you praise them, when you’re there for them in their hurting times. I’ll tell you, nobody felt small when they were around Jesus because He stopped for the people no one stopped for—especially the ones no one stopped for. Hey, be the one of whom they say, “That man, that woman made me feel important.” Our website is dedicated to helping you live that kind of high-impact life. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Romans 12:10 |
