Download MP3 (right click to save) I’m a homeowner and I travel a lot. Man, I love to come home to that little piece of this planet that’s ours. I can only imagine the heartache of people who are losing their home to foreclosure. And it’s happening to more people than ever, and that has got to hurt. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and in times like these it’s really good to clarify the ultimate meaning of the word home. Ultimately it’s not the house you live in. That can be taken away. Home is something no one can foreclose on. There’s a helpful picture in a story from the life of the Apostle Paul here. He’s on a ship, being taken as a prisoner to Rome, and they’re caught up in a massive storm for two weeks. Everyone is sure they’re going to die. God appears to Paul in the middle of all that and he says, “Keep up your courage because not one of you will be lost, only the ship will be destroyed” (Acts 27:22 ). Basically, God says, “Paul, the ship’s going down, but the people aren’t.” What really matters isn’t the ship, it’s the people. Those who live a life that matters never lose sight of what—well actually Who really matters. Ultimately, home is the people God has given you as a family, not the ‘earth box’ they live in. When you have that straight, you’ll pour yourself into the home improvements that really matter—your love relationship with each one of the precious members of your family. Houses are for a while; the people who are your home will last forever. Living for what lasts is what we want to help you do through our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Acts 27:22 |
