As I think about where I am at this point in my life as a husband to a phenomenal woman and the father of three beautiful kids, there are really only a few things I am sure of...things that I desire. Today I want to share them with you. See if some of these desires of mine are similar to some of yours. I desire for God to use me to make a far greater difference with the rest of my life than I have made until now. Ron Hutchcraft coined that phrase, but it has now become the reality of my expectations. I don't want to waste any more time. My passion is to grow the Kingdom of God, and growing the Kingdom means starting in my living room with those who are closest to me. As my pastor often says, we teach people what we know, but we reproduce what we are. My kids will draw most of their conclusions about Jesus by watching me live my life. I want them to desire my God and not be turned off by what they see in me. I desire to live a life of peace and joy and to spread that to others. The verse that has impacted me the most lately is Romans 15:13 . It says "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." This verse has been encouraging to me because of my need for His joy and peace. And it has been challenging to me because the degree to which you experience His joy and peace is determined by the degree to which "you trust in Him." Have you ever been around someone who is literally overflowing with hope? How awesome would it be for others to drink deeply from the well of God's goodness and faithfulness overflowing through your life? The funny thing is that people will definitely walk away with something after crossing paths with you; the only question is what. |

Okay, so I recently celebrated another birthday, though I vowed after my last one that I would stop having them. I wanted to just keep living life as normal and avoid the numbers game. But thanks to my friends, it didn't work.
