What if Jesus Had a Facebook Account?Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Jesus had a Facebook account? Imagine His daily updates to His status. "Just saved an entire country from mass destruction." "Held the world on its axis again today." I mean, think about what it would be like to see His updates. And the images and videos? Oh, my! I could just imagine the snapshots of His creation He would post for the world to see...places the human mind could not conceive. Or how about some throw-back videos of when He was on the earth? Talk about going viral!

What Bible story would you most like to see from Him posted on video? Could you imagine seeing Peter get out of the boat and walk on water...and sink...in HD? Or watch Jesus clean out the Temple? Or see the surprise on the disciple's faces when they saw the risen Christ for the first time?

And then I think about what it would be like to receive a direct message from Him on my Facebook page. "I heard what you said to your wife today and I wasn't very pleased." Gulp! Or "Just a reminder that you are the apple of my eye and you'll never know how much I love you. I'm so proud to claim you as my own!" Or how about "Hang in there. You can do it. I believe in you and I am with you all the way!"

Well, we can have fun with this idea for hours but the tragedy is that many of us believe we would follow Jesus much closer and have a much stronger walk with Him if we had access to such a thing as Jesus on Facebook. But the disciples had Jesus in living color and they still struggled big time with their faith until after the resurrection.

We actually have something much better than a Facebook account of Jesus. We have the living and active, perfect Word of God and we have the Spirit of God living within us! How powerful is that? And Jesus even promises us that through prayer and with the Spirit's leading and empowering, we will be able to do even greater things than what Jesus accomplished in His time on the earth. This is because He was going to the Father to pray on our behalf.

While it would obviously become one of the wonders of the world to actually have a Facebook account of Jesus, we would do well to just take some time out of each day to read what He has already written to us and obey what He's already told us in black and white to do. Perhaps we should start there and allow Him to speak into our hearts and lives by His Spirit and Word. Then the world would see Jesus on Facebook. They would see Him through what we say and how we live, and what could possibly be better than that?
