Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Breaking Down the Walls

While we have developed the largest Christian subculture in the history of Christianity, unfortunately we have lost the culture we have been called to reach. To reach the culture of non-Christians once again, we must ultimately do what it takes to break down the walls we have built that are keeping lost people from getting to Jesus.

Going Where They Are

First, we must be willing to leave our comfort zones, our Christian cocoons, and meet non-Christians on their turf. We've got to do this individually and corporately. In Luke 5:28 , we see Jesus doing this by going to Levi at his tax collector's booth.

He didn't tell Levi to meet him at the synagogue and listen to him preach. Jesus met him where he was, where he was already used to going. Levi found it effective to host a banquet at his house for Jesus and he invited all of his tax collector friends (Luke 5:29 ).

Serving

Develop a reputation of serving. Serving begins within the local church and should extend into the community. Serving helps break down the walls and earns the respect of the people we are wanting to reach.

The Body of Christ

Not only are there times when we need to pool our resources with other local churches to attain bigger kingdom purposes, but also unity among believers is one of the greatest evangelistic tools we have (John 17:23 ).

The Main Thing

Give them Jesus. Our focus cannot be to give the community more beliefs, denominations, church, or religion. Our goal must be to stick to Jesus. He never said "Follow my followers" or " follow my leaders." Jesus said "Follow me."
