Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Because Others Are Counting On You

I have recently been intrigued by a book that tells the story of how the New York Yankees became such a huge dynasty in the Major League Baseball world. Whether you like baseball or the Yankees is not for me to know and is not the point of the blog. But what has been running through my mind the most while reading the book is what former Manager Joe Torre called his most important message to his team: "It's not about you, it's about the team. It's about others who are counting on you."

As you and I begin a brand new year of serving Christ, let's not forget that the message Joe Torre gave to his team is also a message for us. Living for Jesus is not about us. It's all about others who are really counting on you. They are counting on you to stay faithful this year in your marriage. They are counting on you to share the message of Jesus with them in ways they can easily understand and relate to. They are counting on you to live in such a way that you don't dilute the message you are seeking to speak into their lives. Yes, others are counting on you.

As we seek to live a life that matters each day of this new year, let's be reminded that others might not make it to Jesus without our faithfulness and commitment to God's purposes for our life. They are counting on you.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16 ).
