15 Appealing Ways to Let People Know You Are A ChristianOne of the easiest things to do as a Christian is to be a really caring, moral person and never tell people why. This is Camouflage Christianity. On the other hand, is it really necessary to wear bright-colored Christian t-shirts and carry a 50-pound Bible everyday to get the point across? Here are a few suggestions from our staff that they have found helpful in letting people know they are Christ-followers in ways that have been appealing and not appalling. These are also proven ways to help initiate spiritual conversations. Try to pick at least one and act on it this week, and let me know how it went.

  1. Pray over your meal on your lunch break.
  2. Let people know how much you love your pastor and church.
  3. Ask them non-confrontational questions like "Do you have any spiritual interests?"
  4. Give God credit in front of others for specific things He has done in your life.
  5. Find out what kind of needs people have, then find ways to help meet those needs and tell them why you felt compelled to do so.
  6. Offer to pray for God-sized needs in others' lives for seven days. Ask the person if you can begin by praying for them while with them.
  7. Write encouraging notes or emails to people who are hurting and include a short Scripture or prayer.
  8. Listen to Christian music at your desk or in your vehicle.
  9. See every opportunity as a talking point, turning conversations into something spiritual.
  10. Model a servant spirit by going above and beyond to help others. Be willing to do what everyone else wants to shun.
  11. Nurture relationships with people for the purpose of having relationships, not for the purpose of making them a spiritual target or project.
  12. Celebrate with others during their good times.
  13. Walk with others through their bad times.
  14. Refuse to go with the crowd when your convictions are being compromised, but compassionately tell them why.
  15. Use Twitter or Facebook to post Scriptures or spiritual thoughts that are meaningful to you.

What else would you add to the list?
