Sometimes God will use us as one of the first links in someone's journey. For instance, I remember having a spiritual conversation with a man in downtown Chicago a number of years ago, and it was the first time anyone had ever talked with him about Jesus Christ. Sometimes God will use us as one of the last links in the chain, allowing you to be there to see a friend or family member cross the line of faith and become a devoted Christ follower. But most of the time, we will find ourselves serving as a link somewhere in the middle. I want to point out that unfortunately, there are many Christians who feel defeated in their walk with Christ because they haven't been out there "winning people to Jesus." And let me just say that while God is calling you back onto the playing field to be a faithful link in the chain, the results are up to Him, not you. Be encouraged that God wants to use you in a number of ways that will help others find their way home to the Savior's arms. 1 Corinthians 3:7-8 says, "It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work."
