What I gleaned most from Eric's talks at a recent mens' retreat was his raw courage to step out in faith and believe God for big things. Eric's story is a testimony of facing fear and simply disregarding it. That is a great definition of courage! The disregarding of fear! And I left the retreat asking, "What does God want me to do that requires raw courage and a deep trust in Him to get it done?" Of all the things you may be wanting to pursue, perhaps the one thing that God may be prompting you to do is the thing that scares you and me to death the most - talking to someone we know about Jesus. It can be a scary thought bringing Jesus up to someone we know. But you and I may be the only people who care enough about the people around us to let them know about God's love in this way. Here's a simple but life-changing prayer I want to challenge you to join me in praying daily. It's called the three-open prayer and you can be sure it's God's will (see Colossians 4:3-4 ). It goes like this: "Lord, open a door." A door in this case is a natural opportunity to talk with someone about Jesus. Secondly, "Lord, open their heart." Before we go into enemy territory and attempt to have a Jesus-conversation with someone, we need God to be at work on the other end, preparing that person's heart. And third, "Lord, open my mouth." And that's where the rubber meets the road. Would you be willing to join me in praying this prayer each day and allowing God to open some unbelievable doors to share Jesus with others? And when He opens the doors and you go through them, pass an email along to me and let me know how it went. I'd love to hear your story! |
