Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s one of those stories that’s especially disturbing this time of year. A Michigan mother drove 12 hours to Omaha, Nebraska so she could abandon her 13-year-old son at a hospital. Apparently, Nebraska has a new, unique Safe-Haven Law that was meant to protect endangered children. But it’s been used several times just to dump children. I can only imagine how devastating it’s got to be for a child to be totally abandoned by someone they thought loved them. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and that feeling isn’t just something a few abandoned children feel. You may know that feeling because a love that you had counted on walked out the door on you. I mean, every love will let you down in one way or another, it’s going to disappoint us, desert us, divorce us, or die on us. Every love except one, that is. On that awful weekend years ago when I almost lost my wife to a sickness, that love was my anchor. God says, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands” (Isaiah 49:15-16 ). If you were to meet Jesus right now and shake His hand, you’d see that engraving—the nail prints—the proof of how very much He loves you. Because He allowed them to nail Him to a cross to pay the death penalty for every wrong thing you’ve ever done. If He was ever going to turn His back on you, it would have been then, and He did not. He’d rather die than lose you. And that hand might be reaching your direction today. Grab Him. We’d love to help you get started with Him if you just go to our website, AlifeThatMatters.org., because God put you here to live that life that matters.
