Years ago we were driving along the Hudson River side of New York City when the traffic totally stopped and it didn’t move for an hour. I’m like, “What’s going on here?” Well they had stopped to watch the Fourth of July fireworks display across the river. Of course what’s the Fourth without fireworks, right?

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and for all the excitement of fireworks, well they only light things up for a little while and then everything goes back to the way it was. Actually, spiritual fireworks work the same way. A lot of Christians base their Christian life on fireworks. You know, that next spiritual event, the next high. We have experiences that matter, but not a life that matters.

You ready to move beyond that? You know, just getting a spiritual high. You might be ready to get a spiritual life, and you might find some help in Simon Peter’s testimony about the day that heaven came down on a mountain and he actually saw Jesus in all His heavenly glory. He said, “We were eyewitnesses of His Majesty. We heard this voice that came from heaven” (2 Peter 1:16, 18). Well, you talk about fireworks; it doesn’t get any better than that. He said it does because he said, “We have the Word…made more certain” (2 Peter 1:19). He was talking about the Bible, the Word of God.

Now here’s an important question for you and me: Is my Christian life anchored to meetings, leaders, or to a daily meeting with Jesus in God’s Word? It’s time to move beyond fireworks to being with Jesus every day. That’s a life built on rock and not sand.

We’d love to help you go deeper into Him if you visit our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
