Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s probably a pride thing, but I really didn’t want to get glasses. Well, that is until my arms shrank and I couldn’t hold things far enough way to read them anymore. And once I put the glasses on and could actually see what I was reading, it opened up a whole new world. Which brings us to Thanksgiving. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to encourage you to put on your Thanksgiving glasses every day of the year—looking for, focusing on the things you have to be thankful to God for. Because, as Charles Spurgeon said, “Those who look for providences will never want for providences to see.” David wrote some amazing words in Psalm 34 . They’re amazing because he was hiding in a cave, he’s running for his life, the king and 3,000 men were out to kill him. He said, ”I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” Then he talked about the result of finding things to praise God for even when you’re hurting. He said, ”Those who look to Him are radiant” (Psalm 34:1 , 5). Hey, I’ve got a name for this. It’s called thanksliving; not just a day in your year, but a way of life… when you train your heart to look for the fingerprints of God in your life, it literally changes your attitude and even your countenance. If you do what’s easy, of course, you’ll just wallow around in all the negative stuff. That’s why you’ve got to train your heart to praise. I know that the heavier my load, the more important it is that I make my first waking up thoughts things to thank God for; to go to sleep praising Him. We used to sit around our dinner table and talk about our God-sightings with our family. It’s a great way to go into your day—spiritual glasses on so you can look for God-sightings throughout your day. And I’ll tell you, there are tons of them from our family, and from our ministry team, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Thanksliving! This radio program references: Psalm 34:1 , 5 |
