Did you know there’s an 800 number you can call for what to do with your turkey? Yeah. In fact, Paul Harvey reported a few years ago about a lady who called and said she had a turkey in her freezer for about 20 years and she wanted to know if it was still good to eat. Well, the guy said, “You know what? It won’t hurt you. It’s probably not going to taste very good.” She said, “Oh, good! I’ll give it to the church.” That’s messed up! I’m Ron Hutchcraft. There’s one way to avoid being a turkey spiritually. Don’t give God what you don’t really need or don’t really want anyway. Some Old Testament folks already tried that. Instead of bringing God the perfect animals He required, they tried to dump on Him some stuff that was unworthy of Him. God says,”When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Oh, that you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will accept no offering from your hands’” (Malachi 1:3 , 4, 10)…”Lock the church doors – don’t even bother going through all your religious stuff. You’re wasting your time and Mine.” The worship has changed, but the sin of cheating God has not. We give God our leftover time, we give God our leftover belief. We give God our leftover money. We’ll sign up for everything He’s got except for control. This is God who is “the Lord Almighty.” He gave His Son for you; you cannot hang onto the good stuff for yourself and just give Him what doesn’t matter much to you. That’s spiritual hijacking. Hey, if you’re looking for straight talks spiritually, you’ll like our website I think. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
