Download MP3 (right click to save) My wife doesn’t drink milk, but don’t blame her. Blame the cow. Or blame what the cow ate. Her Daddy told her she had to drink her milk, and she just couldn’t. What he didn’t know was it tasted awful, because the cow it came from had been munching something called bitterweed. And when you feed on bitterweed, guess what happens to the milk you produce? You’ve heard of buttermilk? How about bittermilk? Of course, we humans have been known to feed on bitterweed, too. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and when you keep on replaying the bad that someone’s done to you, it’s eventually going to turn into that soul cancer called bitterness. The more you feed on how they’ve wronged you, the more bitter you’re going to become. Eventually, that’s going to start to leave a bad taste in other people’s mouths. There’s a solemn warning from Bible: “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many” (Hebrews 12:15 ). God’s grace and my bitterness cannot exist in the same heart. Either His grace is going to push out my bitterness or my bitterness is going to push out His grace. The bitterness isn’t hurting that person at all, but it eats you alive. You either let it go or you let it grow. And it may be that your bitterness, resentment, and anger are spilling into your attitude. They’re making you negative person. It can even be a growing wall between you and God, costing you the sense of His love you once had. Only one cure for this cancer, and that’s asking the great Forgiver, Jesus, to help you forgive that person so both of you can go free. If you’re looking for more spiritual encouragement, will you go to our website? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters.
