Whether it’s your cup of tea or not, Bill Gaither’s Homecoming videos have become a phenomenon in the Christian music world. A few years ago, Bill assembled some of the greats of Gospel music for a reunion gathering, and it just touched a nerve and it’s gone on to inspire millions of people. One of them is on some channel almost every weekend. Now one of the most respected singers is part of the Gaither quartet. His name is Guy Penrod. He’s a big, tall guy with striking shoulder-length dark hair and a long coat. Our son and daughter-in-law and our two-year-old granddaughter were watching it the other night and Guy stepped up to sing and our little granddaughter just went, “See Jesus.” She got me again.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft and it hit me pretty hard. When people look at me, do they see Jesus? I’m not tall. No, I’ll never be that. No long hair, but I’m not talking physical resemblance anyway. When people see me, do they see someone who acts like Jesus? We’re supposed to, in the Bible’s words, “Reflect the Lord’s glory—being transformed into His likeness with ever increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18 ).

Do you stop for someone in need? Do you put others ahead of yourself? Do you always tell the truth? Are you someone who can’t stand hypocrisy, but who’s a friend sinners? Will you be there for those who no one else wants to touch? Do you stand boldly against the devil? Do people feel safe when they’re with you? See, your life matters most when you live like the One whose life mattered more than any other. You’re the only Jesus some people will ever see.
