He switched the price tag of $500 plus with a UPC tag from a water bottle for $3.17. Unfortunately for Mr. Price Swapper, the cashier got a little suspicious of that low, low price for a TV. Yeah, he got caught. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and there’s one important key for a life that matters, and that’s keeping the price tags straight. There’s a deceiver in this world who keeps switching the tags. See, he tries to make things that won’t last or deliver look like they’re worth a lot, and things that will last forever and will deliver look like they’re not worth much. Esau found that out in the Old Testament. Esau was a Jewish first-born son, which meant that he has all kinds of privileges that the other children didn’t have. It’s called his birthright. His little brother, Jacob, always wanted it. Esau’s coming back from a hunting trip, starved. His brother’s cooking his trademark stew, and he gives up his birthright for a pot of stew. What a trade! Here’s the post-mortem in the Bible, “Esau, for a single meal sold his inheritance rights… Afterward, he could bring about no change of mind, though he sought the blessing with tears” (Hebrews 12:16 ). See, Esau traded what would last forever for something that would make him feel better for a little while. Haven’t we all? You get the price tags mixed up, and you do something to meet a need that will cost you for the rest of your life. Let’s not make that mistake. There’s a lot more at our site. It’s called ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
