Our teenage son had just been on his first date, and the next day he ran into his friends at the mall. And those guys wanted to know only one thing, “How much did you get off her?” That reveals the kind of manhood too many of us have bought. What makes you a man is conquest, buddy; conquering a woman, conquering in sports, conquering in business, or conquering in a relationship.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and I honestly believe that we guys have been sold a lie about what makes a man a man, and it’s given us a payback of loneliness, and broken relationships, and hurting relationships, and hollowness. For a man to have a life that matters, he’s got to go after the right conquests.

Listen to Proverbs 16:32 , “Better a patient man than a warrior; a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.” See, God says that a real man is a conqueror—he conquers himself…his temper, his passions, selfishness, his coldness, his dark side. For this guy, that meant a rescuer—the man who captivated and challenged every guy who ever followed Him, Jesus Christ. The man above all men; the man who laid down His life so we could belong to Him.

We’re talking real manhood when you lay down your life and give it to Jesus Christ.
