Download MP3 (right click to save) Man for weeks the heartbreaking images just kept coming from that massive earthquake in China. At least 80,000 people died there. Now one of the heart-wrenching scenes was watching those parents who stood 24-hour vigil outside their kids’ school waiting until their child’s body was brought out. Now they’re protesting. They believe that their children didn’t have to die; if only the school had been built to withstand that quake. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and now quakes are inescapable. They’re part of life. I don’t mean just the kind that register on the Richter Scale. There are major shakeups that hit us medically and maritally and occupationally and financially and relationally and spiritually. The question isn’t whether or not we’re going to have life-quakes; it’s whether what we’re building our life on can withstand the quake, because a life that matters just doesn’t collapse when everything’s shaking. Jesus said the person who hears His words and, “…puts them into practice, is like a man building a house who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.” Jesus said the flood would not be able to shake it. But the one who hears His word and doesn’t live it , “…is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.” Jesus said, “The torrents struck and the house collapsed” (Luke 6:46-49 ). Now the point, the only life that’s quakeproof is the one that is daily anchored to God’s Word; not God feelings, not God organizations, not God friends, not God events, but learning and living God’s Word. So, what are you building on and is it quake proof? Hey, there’s more spiritual encouragement at our website, ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
