Download MP3 (right click to save) It was hundreds of townspeople and volunteers and National Guardsmen verses the mighty Mississippi. They worked so hard to build this earthen levee to keep the flood out of Winfield, Missouri. It wasn’t the river that beat them though, it was a muskrat. Yeah. He burrowed a hole through the levee and that allowed water to penetrate that flood wall and in came a flood. One woman said, “With all the guns in this county, couldn’t we kill a muskrat?” I’m Ron Hutchcraft and you got a big wall holding back a big flood breached by just a little hole. That is such a picture of how so many people have ended up where they could have never dreamed, in the wreckage of what might have been a life that matters. The wall around their marriage, their integrity, their reputation, their walk with God was breached because they allowed one little hole in the wall, one small compromise, one careless night, one look, one taste, one spiritual day off and before long the flood engulfed them. Here’s how to build a spiritual levee that won’t fail. The Bible says, “Clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires” (Romans 13:14 ). Fight it as a desire. Stop it at the first thought of compromise.
