Well it’s almost Olympics time, and they never fail to deliver those amazing sports performances, along with some pretty intense human dramas. Like what happened to Derek Redmond a few years ago. I’ll bet you remember it. He was a British track star in the Barcelona Summer Games and it turned out to be one those like ultimate Kodak moments in the Olympics. He got this painful injury as he was running in his event, and it was so painful it looked like he was down for the count. He wasn’t going to go on. Right then a big man in an orange T-shirt pushed his way out of the stands and past security, onto the track. It was his father, and he lifted his son to his feet and he said, “You can do this son. We’ll cross the finish line together.” And a lot of us will never forget that scene as this father and son did just that; an arm around each other’s shoulder.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you know I have a father like that. So do you, if you belong to Jesus Christ. Now right now you may be wounded; you’re finding it hard to go on. You feel like giving up on a life that matters. You need to hear your Father’s promise. He said, “I have carried you since your birth. Even to your old age. I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:3-4 ). This very day I believe your Father is coming down out of the stands to put His arm around you and lift you up and He’s saying to you, “You can do this because I’m going to help you. We’re gonna cross that finish line together.”
