Download MP3 (right click to save) It was about this time of year and I was ten years old—I was in the lake with my friends and I was going under because I didn’t know how to swim and I didn’t want to tell them. Well, a man came from the shore after I’d gone under the second time. He grabbed me and he saved me. That’s why I’m here today to talk to you. It was the second most dramatic rescue of my life. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and the greater rescue actually came another time when I realized there was no way I could save myself no matter how I tried. Now the issue wasn’t the lake; it was my eternity. I realized what the Bible says about the wrong things I’ve done. They separate me from God now and forever in a place called hell. No good things I could ever do—or you could do—could ever cancel those wrong things. We’re spiritually drowning, and then came the Rescuer. The Bible says, “When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6 ). See I did the sinning, Jesus did the dying. Our only hope of going to heaven is, well it’s like the day that I was drowning. My only hope then was a rescuer. That’s our only hope for eternity. Even through a little feature like this, God’s Rescuer comes to rescue people from an unthinkable eternity and for a life that matters. And today maybe you can feel the tug in your heart—He’s coming to you. He wants to be your personal Savior from your personal sin. I’d love to help you know how to get started with Him if you just go to our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters.
