Download MP3 (right click to save) Ross McGinnis wasn’t there to receive his Medal of Honor from the President of the United States. He died in Iraq so his buddies wouldn’t. When an insurgent’s grenade landed in the Humvee that he and his fellow soldiers were in, instead of escaping he chose to absorb the explosion with his own body; and in the process he was laying down his life for four men who are alive today as the result. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and you know, the Bible in several places talks about the power of someone laying down their life for someone else. Jesus said, “The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Greater love has no man than this that he lay down his life for his friends.” And then this one that goes right to my heart as a husband; it says, “Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church,” oh that sounds nice, that’s inspiring—yeah well listen, “and gave himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25 ). Does that mean falling on her grenade? Well, not really, but the kind of love God expects of us husbands, is the kind that does abandon our self preservation for our wife. To live a life that matters at home, her needs matter more than yours. Her need to be heard matters more than your need to get things done. Her language of love matters more than yours. Three little words sum it up: Put her first. That’s when you’re a Medal of Honor man to the woman who pledged her life to you. There’s a whole lot more about how to live for others and not for yourself at our website. It’s ALifeThatMattters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Ephesians 5:25 Learn how to share these articles with your friends (video tutorial) |
