For example, it says, “There’s a stunning lack of alignment between people’s beliefs or practices and their professed faiths.” Now sadly American Christians are no exception. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and sometimes when I speak for young people I have this blueberry pie cut into six slices and I’ll put whip cream on one slice and I’ll say, “Now how many slices are going to taste like whip cream?” and they go, “Well one.” You know that’s how many Christians feel about Jesus in their life. They’ll give Him one slice of the pie and that one really has a Jesus flavor. They go to church, they read their Bible, they pray, but then there’s my job, my money, my entertainment, my relationships, how I treat people, and the Jesus slice of course. Listen, if that’s all you’re doing with Jesus is giving Him a compartment, don’t call Jesus Lord. You’re playing God. You’re limiting Jesus to a compartment of your life. Now with that pie, sometimes I’ll then put the whip cream in the middle and then it’s changing the taste of every slice. That’s what it means to have Jesus as Lord. He changes everything—no compartments, total surrender. You’ll never experience the life that matters that Jesus made you for as long as you’re compartmentalizing your life. Here’s what He asks, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46 ) He’s waiting for our answer. We’d love to help you know how to live for Him more completely. Our website is for that. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters.
