Download MP3 (right click to save) Sometime during the vacation season you probably stayed in a hotel somewhere. I’ve stayed in so many that they blur into one big hotel room. I wake up sometimes with no clue what city I’m in. Now, I’ve stayed in some fabulous hotels; stayed in some dumps. No matter how nice it is, though, I’ve never called the moving company and said, “Hey, could you bring all my earthly possessions over to the hotel?” Hey, I take an overnight bag in. I’m not going to live there. The hotel isn’t home. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and knowing the difference between a hotel and home turns out to be a key in living a life that matters. And the Bible sorts it out. “Be holy in all you do. Live your lives as strangers here…as aliens and strangers in the world” (1 Peter 1:17 , 2:11). See, if you belong to Jesus, where you live now is just Hotel Earth. We’re just passing through on our way to home—which is with God in heaven. Man, does this change your priorities! If this is just my temporary hotel, why would I pile up tons of earth stuff or base my life just on what’s important at the hotel? What matters at home is what really matters. Like pouring into lives that are going to last forever; investing in the work of God in this hotel; resisting the temptations in this hotel that make us want to do what feels good now; helping people from this hotel have a home in heaven. The rest is earth stuff. This is just Hotel Earth. If you’re not sure you’re going to have a home in heaven, I hope you’ll go to our website. We’d love to help you know how to belong to Jesus Christ.
