Download MP3 (right click to save) It has been just one storm after another dumping rain in a lot of parts of the country, including ours. We’ve had rivers going where no one remembers them ever going before. We had some people who were trapped in homes; homes that were rapidly filling up with water. And then the rescue helicopter came. Like one reporter said, “The only way out was up.” I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and I know that feeling. I’ve never been in a physical flood, but I know what it is to feel like I’m going under. Like when we lost our first baby, when we were drowning financially, when I thought my wife wasn’t going to make it. For me, the only way out was up. And I had to admit there was nothing I could do to rescue myself. I had to grab Jesus like He was my only hope. And that’s what it took for me to even have a relationship with God and any hope of heaven or a life that matters. The Bible puts it this way: “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came and died for us sinners. He will save us from God’s condemnation” (Romans 5:6 , 9). I tell you, it’s kind of hard to admit that we can’t rescue ourselves; even us really like nice people. Jesus had to die on a cross to pay the death penalty for every wrong thing you and I have ever done. He is the rescuer from above. If you’ve never grabbed His hand to be your rescuer, I hope you will. Because the only way out is up. Our website, I think, can help you make that connection. I hope you’ll check us out at alifethatmatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
