Download MP3 (right click to save) Last Halloween night, I walked into this convenient store and I saw a sign outside that said, “Leave your mask outside.” I took that very personally, but actually, it’s a good idea. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and I can almost imagine a sign like that outside the Throne Room of Almighty God. See masks are absolutely useless in the presence of God. The Bible says, “Man looks on the outward appearance, God looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 ). All that stuff that I do and I say to make a good impression, to cover up what I’m really feeling, that’s all a waste of time with God. He knows every good thing; He knows every dark thing in our hearts, the baggage that keeps us from His life that matters. Just before talking about prayer, the Bible says, “Everything is laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13 ). Now there’s good news there. When you pray, you don’t hold anything back. See we tend to come to Him all religious and talking like we should feel instead of how it really is. God’s saying, “Leave your mask outside, Ron.” Bad news: Some very religious people are going to get to Judgment Day and find out that they’re not going to heaven because their Christianity was a mask, a uniform, a vocabulary, a reputation, but they missed Christ in all of it. The Bible says that Jesus will speak these words, “I never knew you,” (Matthew 7:23 ) to people who never really had a time they began a relationship with Him. Do you know there’s been a time like that for yourself? If you’re not sure, please make sure. Maybe we can help you be sure you belong to Him. Now go to our website. A lot of people have found some help there; it’s ALifeThatMatters.org. God put you here to live a life that matters.
