It’s not often you see a President of the United States choking back tears, but President Bush was pretty emotional recently when he presented the Medal of Honor posthumously to a true battlefield hero. Michael Monsoor was his name. He was part of the force fighting for the Iraqi city of Ramadi. He and some other Navy Seals were fighting from their sniper position on a rooftop when a grenade landed right near him.

Well, here’s what the President said about him, “Without regard for his own safety, he threw himself onto the grenade to absorb the force of the explosion with his body, saving the lives of his teammates.” One of the men he saved said recently, “Every day pretty much revolves around what he did for me.”

I’m Ron Hutchcraft and I know how that feels. I owe my life to a man who gave His life for me.

Here’s what the Bible says about Jesus, “He loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). What Jesus was doing as He hung on that cross was for me, it was for you, it’s so personal. He was absorbing all the guilt, and all the hurt, and all the hell of every wrong thing we’ve ever done. That is how much He loves us. I would encourage you to, in your heart, stand at that cross and say, “For me.” It’s overwhelming and it’s life changing.

If you’d like to know more about how to begin a relationship with Him, I’d invite you to our website alifethatmatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters.
